The Antenna - Buy or Build? Ham radio has changed over the years...Do you still build antenna's, or do you buy a commercial product?
[426 votes since 2008-11-20]
I still build my all my own...
No time/inclination to build, I buy commercial...
My station uses a combination of both...
I'm an Experimenter, always constructing/trying something new...
I'd love to build, but for reasons, I can't...
I have a limited income, I HAVE to Build!

Spotlight KG6TT's Current Station
KG6TT's Current Station So the best of my world surrounds me (well almost, couldn't get my XYL to to get in the photo). For over 30 years I have enjoyed one Ten-Tec transceiver and then another. Today, I am lucky to have a nice assortment of those wonderful transceivers at my finger tips. There are a few more to add (when my XYL isn't looking), but for now the daily arsenal includes my Orion, Corsair II, Omni-C, Triton IV, Argosy, Scout, and a Century 22.... all ready, working, and worked.. sometimes daily! My companion's name is Scout.... (yes, but he is named after one of my favorite characters from "To Kill a Mockingbird"). 73 from Fairfield, CA, Solano County!

Strays Add a Stray!
Does anyone have any experience with the Feature Tech AW06A antenna analyzer? I have been looking for an alternative to the normal $300-$400 analyzers and this seems to be a reasonable option. There are no reviews pro or con on this product. I saw it on CheapHam.com and at $140 it seems to be a deal. Any info would be helpful. Please reply to g_dub54@yahoo.com. Thanks and 73 to all. - Gary

DXCC Status
A contributor states, "Currently there are only two countries that do not issue Amateur Radio licenses to their citizens, Yemen and North Korea. Thousand of deserving Ham's worldwide who enjoy working DX are shut out of any hope of obtaining the #1 Top of the Honor Roll status due to this. It would seem rational that these two countries (and any others who take a similar position) should be deleted from the official DXCC list in view of this. Why recognize a country on the DXCC list that does not recognize Amateur Radio? What say you?"

W0DKM Shack on Wheels Hello From Omaha NE. I use carts for my equipment, Radios and Amps. It is a breeze to check and work on wiring and back of rigs. I like the older Kenwoods, main rig is a FT-MV-1000MP hooked up to a Ameritron AMP.
