My budget station includes a
Kenwood TS-430S (modified), a Ten-Tec 229
tuner, MC-60 mic., an Autek QF-1A audio
filter, an Alinco DR-235 for 220, and a
Kenwood TH-F6A handheld. My HF antenna
is a G5RV lite
(inverted vee) at about 33 feet, and a Comet
CX-333 for V/UHF. I'm working towards WAS,
and I really enjoy DX and rag chewing. I love

My station is setup to cover 1.8 MHz through 1300 MHz. running many different modes. The primary rigs are an IC-756 PRO, IC 706 MKII and an IC 910H. On the amplifier side, I am running an Alpha 99 and a Johnson 6N2 Thunderbolt. THe entire station is under computer control using a rack mounted 3.2 GHz P4 homebrew machine with TRX Manager and a large variety of other software including most of the digital modes. I have recently been experimenting with digital voice communications using HamDream DRM software and dual soundcards for the encoding and decoding. There is also a broadcast audio chain with 6 channel mixer, mic processors, phone hybrid and computer audio. This chain allows multiple feeds to the rigs, cross band operation and recording of any QSO's. The entire station is housed in a broadcast studio console built by Harris. I work for Harris Corporation Broadcast Division as the VP of Technology.
